The Sponsored Walk
What a lovely way to end Spring Term – another annual event – The Sponsored Walk.
The juniors had a fantastic time walking (well, mostly running!) around Harbury Village. Many children were trying to beat their personal bests while others tried to get into double digits. Thank you to the marshal volunteers who gave up their time to stand on the course, along with the PTA drink stand.
On the busy last day of term, the whole school got together for our annual Easter Egg Hunt. We enjoyed buddying up with different-aged children, and searching for our handmade paper eggs. Once we found them, a delicious chocolate treat was waiting for us in the hall. A big thank you to the PTA for the chocolate eggs.
On Shrove Tuesday all of the Infants went to the hall for the annual Harbury Pancake Races. You had to start on the cross, run carrying your frying pan to the blue hoop, stand in the hoop and try to flip your pancake and then sprint to the finish. Year 1 went first to show Reception what to do. Then Reception put in a brilliant performance and Year 2 were just so fast all their photos are a blur!
Playing conkers is a serious game and not for the faint hearted! As well as good hand eye co-ordination other skills required include perseverance and motivation (the game can go on a long time), staying positive (especially if you lose) and congratulating the winner even if you don’t feel like it when you lose!
At the end of the Summer Term children planted a pumpkin seed at school and took their seedlings home to plant out in their garden. On a specific date the pumpkins were brought in to school where the serious art of judging took place. The categories were Largest, Smallest, Ugliest and Prettiest.
